Operations Manager Inbound

(Full time, 38 hours a week)

Action Inbound Logistics outsources a large number of logistics processes to external service providers. We work closely with many of these logistics partners within our network of import hubs and cross-dock operations. Your position as Operations Manager Inbound allows you to maintain an overview of their performance on a daily basis. Doing so enables you and your team to manage a growing international flow of goods. You will do this from our international headquarters in Noord-Holland.

Your daily tasks

Action is growing rapidly, as is our Supply Chain network. You will coordinate and optimise the logistics processes within this international network on the operational/tactical level. Good communication with logistics service providers (3PL, 4PL) and other stakeholders is crucial to maintain an overview. You will monitor the KPIs and forecasts to ensure the distribution centres receive the best possible service.

Contact with internal stakeholders such as Supply Chain Planning, Transport and Procurement is also key. in doing so, you check whether all processes are running smoothly and if the capacity is being used to its full potential. You will also lead the weekly meetings with service providers and internal stakeholders. You are someone who is very visible within Action’s logistics branch. While you will spend a lot of time at our headquarters, you will also travel to locations within Europe 5-6 times per year, and meet the people you talk to on a daily basis. You will have a fun trip together with your colleagues and form strong, international bonds, as well as have time to explore and enjoy a bite to eat and drink.

This job also involves:

  • Ensuring the LSPs (logistics service providers) operate according to the “Action way of working” and always challenging them in the right way.
  • Having an eye for optimisation and KPIs and spotting bottlenecks relating to cooperation with various stakeholders.
  • Maintaining the results and reports on the performance of service providers and other financial parameters in a structural manner.
  • Ensuring the onboarding and offboarding of 3/4PL parties is well organised.

There are also various projects in which you will be actively involved. This includes, for example, expansion projects: opening new hubs, cross-docks and warehouses. You will also represent the department in improvement projects where existing processes are optimised or new interfaces are implemented.

Your team

You can make a difference with a player in the world's top retail industry at Action Inbound Logistics. Our team works hard to create the optimal flow of goods for each product and oversees daily operations. This is a challenging task, particularly when you consider that we have hundreds of active suppliers in Europe and Asia and more than 100,000 containers head to our distribution centres every year. The best part is that Action is expanding at a rapid pace, which means you can contribute to the development of a smart, efficient network. You will do this hand in hand with partners from all over the world as well as with your trusted colleagues, who you meet during the many coffee breaks, drinks and the annual Inbound Logistics Day.

Curious about your new colleagues? We would love to meet you!

What you offer

Stakeholder management is one of your strengths. Clear communication and the ability to persuade others enables you to work well with people and achieve your goals. You enjoy making a contribution to optimising our processes in our fast-growing logistics network. You strive to contribute and create a structure in which you work efficiently and effectively. You have good organisational skills and work well with deadlines.

You also have the following:

  • Higher education level in Supply Chain, Logistics or similar.
  • At least 5 years' relevant work experience in Logistics/Supply Chain.
  • A good command of English, as this is the working language of our international environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, especially Excel. Experience with ERP systems and an understanding of a WMS system is also important.
  • In-depth knowledge of the international logistics world. How a warehouse is organised and terms such as cross-docking and CFS hold no secrets for you.
  • A willingness to travel to different work locations (you will travel abroad around once a quarter)
