About the role

As the Project Officer, you will implement activities to improve community understanding and awareness of the World Heritage-listed Budj Bim cultural landscape and associated volcanic landforms, improvements to visitor access and services, and contribute to conservation protection across the Budj Bim National Park. You will provide an increased ranger presence in the park with visitors and school children to foster an appreciation of the Budj Bim cultural landscape significance through improved visitor engagement and conservation services.

Project planning experience and the ability to initiate new activities to engage with park visitors is essential. Communicating with a wide range of people and stakeholders is critical to the successful implementation of project activities. In collaboration with traditional owners, you will promote Aboriginal culture, values, languages and stories within Budj Bim National Park to enrich the visitor experience and education.

We're looking for someone who can:

  • Plan and deliver interpretive and educational activities on a wide range of topics
  • Develop effective relationships with applicable stakeholders across Parks Victoria and beyond that enable the work groups' activities.
  • Provide practical leadership of engagement with Traditional Owners across the division or region locally
  • Demonstrate a practical understanding of cultural heritage values in their area of operation to carry out heritage management programs to agreed standards
